Woody Allen has stated his support for the ' Ground Zero Mosque' that is to be built in New York, near the site of the World Trade Center, taken down in the 9/11 atrocities. This has caused huge uproar in the U.S, despite the fact that it is not actually a mosque (it's a cultural learning centre), and that it is a couple of blocks from the site of Ground Zero. I liked this AOL article on what other companies could be called 'Ground Zero...': http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/name-that-mosque-ground-zeros-other-neighbors/19590651
Anyway, at the premiere of his film You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger - starring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams - Woody said "Of course I think they should build the mosque. The only people that have a right to weigh in on the issue are the people that were personally involved in 9/11."
"The people who lost friends or relatives have every right to protest and say what they want to say. All of the other people weighing in are doing so for political and for exploitation reasons."

'You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger' doesn't star Owen & Rachel. They're in a film which has just wrapped called 'Midnight In Paris'
ReplyDeleteSorry, as previous blog posts make evident, I was of course aware of that, a little mix up in a rushed post is all. Thanks for pointing it out :)
